TRAINING ON RED RICE PRODUCTION & SETTING UP OF VALUE ADDITION UNIT.

TRAINING ON RED RICE PRODUCTION & SETTING UP OF VALUE ADDITION UNIT.

Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) - NABARD.

Executive Summary

The proposed MEDP aims to build entrepreneurship among rural women through training in red rice production and the establishment of a Led Value Addition Unit in Garur Block, Bageshwar District. Red rice is a traditional, nutritionally rich crop with increasing demand in health-conscious urban and niche markets. However, farmers currently receive limited returns due to inadequate processing, branding, packaging, and market access.

The programme will provide 15 days of structured entrepreneurship and technical training, including 10 days of expert-led sessions, practical demonstrations, an exposure visit, and a KVK visit. The project will enable women to adopt scientific cultivation methods, undertake post-harvest processing, develop branded products, and establish a women-led micro-enterprise for value addition and marketing.
